David L. Kaplan, M.D. is the founder and owner of Adult & Pediatric Dermatology located in Overland Park, KS since 1989. A native of Chicago, Dr. Kaplan was raised in southern Missouri before going on to complete his undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He then obtained a Masters Degree in Microbiology from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. From there, Dr. Kaplan received his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He went on to complete a full internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He then moved back to North Carolina after receiving a Dermatology Foundation research fellowship in dermatopharmacology at Duke University Medical Center Division of Dermatology. Dr. Kaplan went on to complete his dermatology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Dr. Kaplan is board certified in both dermatology and internal medicine. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Kaplan retains his academic interests by continuing to teach at University of Kansas School of Medicine and University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine as a clinical assistant professor on a regular basis. In private practice Dr. Kaplan, provides medical residency training, precepting and mentoring for medical students, physician assistant and nurse practitioner students. Dr. Kaplan lectures locally as well as nationally on a variety of dermatologic subjects.
He also continues to do research in dermatopharmacology and is inventing innovative products for areas of dermatologic need.
Dr. Kaplan is a recognized expert in dermatology, he writes a monthly feature in a national medical publication with 250,000 subscribing primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. He has authored over 30 peer reviewed publication; provided over 50 radio and television interviews and appearances, including National Public Radio twice and quoted in newspapers across the country.
Linly Stevens, PA-C joined our practice in July 2002. Ms Stevens attended the University of Nebraska where she received two Bachelor of Science degrees as an undergraduate. Then she earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Chicago Medical School and completed a preceptorship specializing in dermatology. Linly is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jennifer Davisson PA-C, originally from Leawood, KS, joined the practice in July of 2009 after working for 5 years with another dermatologist. Jenny attended Kansas State University and Avila University where she received two Bachelor of Science degrees in pre med and biology. She then earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Saint Louis University where she completed a preceptorship specializing in dermatology. Jenny is a member of The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, The American Academy of Physician Assistants, and The Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants. She currently resides in Fairway, KS with her husband and two children.
